Why RUM Should Become Experience Intelligence
March 28, 2026
Real user monitoring is a signal source. The service that matters is turning those signals into prioritized engineering action.
RUM is often sold as an installation: drop in a snippet, watch Core Web Vitals, and call the job done. That is monitoring. It is not yet understanding.
Experience Intelligence combines RUM with observability, product analytics, and AI-assisted diagnosis. The question changes from “what is slow?” to “what changed, for whom, and what should engineering do next?”
A useful insight is specific. It names the journey, the release, the device class, the network condition, and a likely contributing change. Vague dashboards do not create backlog items that teams can ship.
This is also how production intelligence becomes part of the lifecycle instead of a separate operations ritual. Detect, correlate, diagnose, prioritize, fix, and validate — then keep the regression from returning.
